The title Ringlands Circus was used by producers in several European countries as well as in South Africa. The intent, of course, was to deceive the public into thinking that the spectacles were somehow connected to Ringling Bros and Barnum & Bailey Circus in the United States. Feld Entertainment often filed lawsuits against the use of any title that appeared to link another operator to the Ringling title or to the copyrighted “Greatest Show on Earth”. These ventures seldom resulted in settlements and often had the opposite effect of generating publicity for all concerned.
