My mother, Rosemary (Verlinde) Foyt had an uncle and two aunts that were “little people”, or midgets as we used to refer to them (They were siblings of my maternal grandmother Mildred (Gafkay) Verlinde; she was not a “little person).  At one time my mother told me they were with the King Brothers Circus for a short period (probably around the 1950’s), and that they may have been presented as husband, wife and daughter.  I have a photo copy of them in evening wear with a header “The Three Kings”.

Their names and DOB and DOD are as follows:

Edwin John Gafkay (Eddie)
Nov 6, 1919 – Dec 1, 1987

Genevieve Rosalie Gafkay (Jenny)
Dec. 21, 1921 – July 18, 1981

Mary Jane Gafkay (Mary Jane)
April 3, 1927 – Feb 17, 1990

They were born in the Detroit area and lived most of their lives in Centerline, MI.

Thanks,
Bob Foyt

I would suggest that you contact the International Independent Showmen’s Association Museum in Gibsonton, Florida.  They have an extensive research library specializing in the carnival and side show industry.  They may have additional information on your relatives.
