That is a terrific question…and whether the “haute ecole” or “High School” horses that were a part of the 19th Century American circuses were truly from the Lippizan bloodline.  The horses that were used in those circuses of the late 1800s certainly exhibited many of the traits of a Lippizaner, but it would seem to be a difficult chore to determine today where they actually originated.
