I’m a Paris-based historian researching the American career of the Goldkette family of acrobats, horsemen, mimes and singers who came to the U.S. from Europe in the early 1900s. Baptiste (b.1879) and Franconi (b.1878) Goldkette were acrobats who arrived in 1907 and were based in Lapaz, Ind. and later Plymouth, Indiana. They also performed in Cuba in 1908. Mine, Eline, Clara and Anglelina Goldkette had a vaudeville sister act. Mine was also active in the founding of the ‘White Rats’ movement to unionize vaudeville performers, around 1910. Any information about the above gratefully received.

On the US side I don?t know so much about these Goldkette?s, but on the European side, grandpa Goldkette, originally from Sweden worked under the name Bruno Bronett and this is the name his children and grandchildren kept. Now still working in circus is his great-greatgrandson Robert director of Cirkus Scott. Apart from the Goldkette?s you mentioned in the US, the last one I know of alive was Alice Goldkette (1917) later married Mathiasko. She died in 1995 in San Diego. Natasha Gerson
