My name is Thera Knight Smith and my grandfather James Harriman Knight played with the Gentry Band. I have a picture of the band in front of the Bandwagon. I do not know the year (it would be before 1909). If you could give me any information you have regarding this band I would appreciate it. A pamplet or something of that nature. Please let me know if you have any books that are available for sale regarding this show, especially anything about the band.

I too, have been trying to gather information regarding the Gentry Brother’s Circus Band. My mother-in-law passed away last December. She was 101 years of age. In going through some of her photos, I found one of the band players, in front of a band wagon. I believe the note on the back reads “Season 1928”. A second photo shows 4 men sitting in a very large chair. These notes appear to say, “Chair City – Gardener, Mass”, with side note saying 2nd from left, “Rallin Pease, coronet player”. The third photo is 3 wagons that appear to be stuck in the mud. Notation on back reads “This is at _____cy, Mass where they had a terrible time because of mud”. Would enjoy hearing back regarding any information one may have found. There’s a possibility her three aunts traveled with them as well. They were vocalists and traveled. ???

I’ve been trying to send a pic of Norma Rodgers Knight. We have just received an old photo album full of the Gentry Bros. circus as my son’s grandfather Joe Clarke worked for them between 1926 to 30. Thought you could use this information.

If we can see a copy of the image, likely we can bracket the date of the image.
