Hi!

I am researching the early cirus history of Putnam County, NY, and trying to locate images of old circus men that were used in an exhibit titled ‘Flatfoot Country,’ that was set up by Gordon Yadon during the 1966 Commemorative Circus Stamp celebration in Delavan.  I am hoping that maybe someone knows the whereabouts of these photos; or perhaps someone photographed the Flatfoot exhibit?  Does there exist, as a collection, photos from that event? …a local newspaper morgue that may have a lot of photos?

Gordon Yadon mentioned that he had copied the images of these men from a “circus historian from Ohio.”    Would you have any idea who that ‘historian’ might be?

I am specifically hoping to find a likeness of Noel E. Waring, Darius Ogden, or Hiram Waring, and any help will be deeply appreciated!

Thank you in advance!

Hello Lori,

Thank you for your interest in the Circus Historical Society.

I would recommend that you contact the Robert L Parkinson Library and Research Center at Circus World in Baraboo, Wisconsin.  They may be able to assist yo in your research.

The historian in Ohio was Richard Conover.  The Conover archive of circus historical information is now in the collection of the Circus World Museum Library.
