My name is Suzanne Bullett and I’m trying to find out some information about Robert Eugene Finney. He and his brother had a trapeze act with the Ringling Brothers Barnum & Bailey circus in the 1900s. I’m not sure what his brother’s name was or what their act was called. If you could send me any information about them I would greatly appreciate it.
Hi My name is Becky and I also am doing family research.I read your question about Eugene Finny. I dont know if this will help you or not but my grandmother’s brother and his wife were both in Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey circus. They were in the Eugene Troupe, from what I understand they performed on the high bars. I assume Eugene was their trainer. If this sounds like the same person and you would like to talk email me back.
My name is Beth Finney (sister to the OP). I was wondering if any of you know the real names of the members of the Bob Eugene Troupe. My great grandfather was Robert William Finney, however I believe he is the “Bob Eugene” of the Eugene Troupe. He and his brothers, Charles Eugene and Rolland, and later his son David, were all members of the group in the early to mid-1900’s. When I research the the Finney name related to the Bob Eugene Troup, I don’t get any hits, but the pictures certainly look like the family photos that I’ve seen of “Old Papa” (what we called Robert William). Any information is greatly appreciated.
Hello, I am Kathleen J Streitenberger, Clara Norma Finney Warner was my Great Great G’Mother. I have two photos of the Trio because I was a gymnast and my mother sent me the photos of her Great Uncles. They are my Great Great Uncles. She met Roll when she was 12 in about 1948. Let me know if you would like email copies of the two photos I have.
My name is Brian Hancock and my grandmother May Finney Hancock is the cousin of David Finney, son of one of the brothers of the Finney Trio (Robert W. Finney ). Rolland Finney was my great-grandfather and Robert W. Finney was Rolland’s brother. Hope this helps. We visited David & Ellison Finney in Stamford, Vermont in the late 80’s. We saw many photos of the trio on the wall of their home.
Hello Suzanne, I was googling information on the Eugene Troup for the fun of it. Robert Finney was my Grandfather. He had two brothers and I have hundreds of original photos of his trapeze act, and others.
Regards, Dave Garland
I have found a couple of pictures in an old photo album of the Sell Floto Circus from the early 20’s that identifies the “Eugene Boys”. The photo was taken at Orchard Beach in Boston Mass. The pictures show several people building a “pyramid” but they are not all men. It may be the Eugene trio playing around on the beach with the Sell Floto gang? If you could email me pictures I could try to compare to see if they are the same individuals.
The trio was called the Eugene Trio. We (descendants of the Finney family) are looking for information on the trio. Have you found any more information? We would be quite appreciative to know!
Thank you, April
